Huron, South Dakota - February 22, 2024 Dakotaland Federal Credit Union awarded 10 area students with $10,000 in College Scholarships for the 2024-25 school year. Eleven committee members from across Dakotaland’s ten branch communities judged over 70 scholarship applications. "“Being on the scholarship committee was eye opening. Not only was I able to get to know more about these young adults who have created a great relationship with their credit union, but also learned the many unique things their hometowns have done to support continued education.”, stated Kaetlin Vedvei, Scholarship Committee Member and Teller/Member Services Representative from the De Smet Branch.
The following winners were each awarded $1000 to use toward their continued education. Savannah Rawden of Volga, SD will graduate from Sioux Valley High School and will be attending South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD majoring in Early Childhood Education. Vivian Hughes of Watertown, SD is currently attending the University of Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls, SD working toward a degree in Social Work, Psychology, Theology and Social Sciences. Holden Hegg of Huron, SD will graduate from Huron High School and will be attending South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Diony Borja Montoya of Mitchell, SD will graduate from Mitchell High School and will be attending the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD majoring in Legal Studies, International Studies, and Spanish. Kasen Janssen of DeSmet, SD is currently attending South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD working toward a degree in Computer Science. Cade Christianson of Brookings, SD will graduate from Brookings High School and will be attending Baylor University in Waco, TX majoring in Aviation Sciences (professional flight). Brendan Nowell of Hitchcock, SD will graduate from Hitchcock-Tulare High School and will be attending South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD majoring in General Agriculture. Caitlyn Cradduck of Volga, SD will graduate from Sioux Valley High School and will be attending South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD majoring in Business (minoring in Accounting). Colt Dunkelberger of Huron, SD is currently attending Mitchell Technical College in Mitchell, SD working toward a degree in Business Management. Allison Britton of Indianola, IA is attending South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD working toward a degree in Agriculture Education.
