Dr. George Langelett of Brookings, SD was officially voted onto the Dakotaland Federal Credit Union Board of Directors at the 83rd Annual Meeting held in Huron, South Dakota on Friday, March 24th. “We’re thrilled to have a Board Member with George’s credentials; a university economics professor with real world business experience. George will give our Board of Directors another level of depth and we’re delighted to have him serving the best interest of our membership”, commented Dakotaland Federal Credit Union President, Dan Cumbee.

Dr. George Langelett joined South Dakota State University and Dakotaland Federal Credit Union in 2002, after teaching for three years at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Dr. Langelett has a bachelors degree in marketing at the University of Northwestern in St. Paul MN and his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Nebraska. He wrote his dissertation on investments in human capital and economic growth. He was promoted to Associate Professor in July 2006, and to Professor in July 2011. From 2006 to 2010, Dr. Langelett was a General Partner at Dakota Financial Research, where he worked as a Forensic Economist and a Business Valuation Analyst. Langelett has an extensive list of accomplishments not only as an educator and researcher, but also as a consultant, a public speaker and a published author.

George and his family reside in Brookings, where he enjoys teaching economics, marketing, and management at South Dakota State University. He spends his free time fishing throughout eastern South Dakota.
