Gina Hansen of Huron has accepted the role of Chief Information Officer at Dakotaland Federal Credit Union. Accompanying her in the management of the 8 member IT staff is Spencer Whitney, who has assumed the position of Vice President of IT. “There is nothing more important than the protection of our members information and assets within the credit union. A strong IT Department has always been a critical component of our continued success. I believe this team will carry this strength forward and provide us with the technology and protection we need in the future,” stated Chief Executive Officer, Ryan Goehner.
As a 23-year veteran, Gina Hansen, is not a newcomer to the credit union. Hansen, a SDSU graduate, began her career in Volga in 2001 as a Teller/MSR and eventually moved into Mortgage Lending. Following the SDSU Federal Credit Union merger with Dakotaland, Gina moved to the Brookings Branch to serve as their Branch Manager, while continuing as a mortgage lender for the Volga and Brookings markets. In 2011, Hansen’s role took a big shift as she moved to Huron becoming an integral part of Dakotaland’s Operations Department. Gina proceeded to take ownership of the design and implementation of our digital imaging project and assisting with a number of branch mergers.
Spencer Whitney has been working along with or within the IT Department at Dakotaland for over 15 years. During that time, he has been instrumental in the IT growth that gives outstanding support to our 12 branch locations, remote employees, and the many systems, hardware, and software that we utilize within our unique positions and departments. An even more vital aspect of Spencer’s responsibilities at the credit union is data security, which is more easily defined as ‘keeping the bad guys out’. As the new VP of IT, Spencer will take this in-depth knowledge and experience to a new level.
With nearly 20 years at the helm of Dakotaland’s IT Department, Mike Whitney, now of Mitchell, has moved into the Information Technology Advisor position. Mike will continue to work alongside the IT Department assisting security, project management, and the transition of new team members into their roles.
Dakotaland Federal Credit Union has locations in Huron, Volga, Brookings, Madison, Redfield, Aberdeen, De Smet, Mitchell, Watertown, and Woonsocket. With over 45,000 members and $650 million in assets, Dakotaland continues to be locally owned and operated offering a full line of financial services to its membership since 1935.
