As the regional director that serves the Huron area, home to Dakotaland Federal Credit Union, I am glad to work with the staff and customers on their business projects. However, I am just one of several seasoned SBDC counselors across South Dakota who can help. The SBDC offers no fee face–to–face business consulting and low–cost training on writing business plans, accessing capital, marketing, regulatory compliance, international trade and more. A partnership of federal, state, local resources make these services available to the small business community. Over 96% of the businesses in South Dakota are classified as small businesses and we can work with nearly any industry and at any stage (start–up, expansion, purchase or sale).

Starting businesses is not an everyday occurrence for most people so our SBDC staff can serve as a guide throughout the process and provide solid business advice along the way. America’s SBDC program studies the economic impact of in-depth clients, those who’ve received five hours or more of SBDC assistance. Results show they are more successful than other businesses, reporting sales increases more than four times the average for businesses in general. Nearly 60% of all pre-venture SBDC clients started new businesses.

The seasoned staff at South Dakota’s SBDC offices are also part of a larger network offering assistance with international trade, government procurement, research and development, lean manufacturing, investor and equity investment assistance. If you are starting a business or currently own one, the SBDC might be the best contact you can make. All it takes is a phone call or email to our office to set up an appointment.
