Aberdeen, South Dakota - December 10, 2023 With the opening of a new 6th Avenue location in Aberdeen, Dakotaland is excited to have turned the reins over to Branch Manager, Cheryl Sivertsen. With nearly 40 years of experience, Cheryl has dedicated her career to the financial industry. “Having the opportunity to work with someone like Cheryl who brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to our Dakotaland family is a highlight. I look forward to giving her the support she needs to provide our best to the Hub City,” stated Chief Growth Officer, Chad Moller.
Sivertsen and her husband, Paul, of 44 years has made Aberdeen their home for four decades. “We considered moving a few times, but just couldn’t find it in our hearts to leave the place we call home and love so much,” claimed Sivertsen. Prior to joining Dakotaland, Sivertsen had committed 15 years at a local financial institution, starting as a teller supervisor and working her way up to Vice President of Retail Banking. Cheryl has always had a desire to help those who realize their dreams but need assistance in making them come true, whether it be a loan or putting money aside for retirement. “I love getting to know people on a personal level and what a huge compliment it is when they seek me out for financial advice. Trust is such a big part of banking and the many long-lasting relationships I have made over the years is what I truly treasure,” added Sivertsen.
When asked about her new chapter with Dakotaland, Cheryl shared she sees great things ahead for the credit union. She is focused on making her members a top priority with a top-notch staff who are eager to serve Aberdeen and the surrounding communities. “I feel very honored to work with the Aberdeen group and the Dakotaland organization as they are community focused, which is vital to our success. The Aberdeen Branch is proud to do our part and that is why we are ‘Together Strong’,” Cheryl declared.
Paul and Cheryl’s son, Eric, lives in Sioux Falls with his wife, Elizabeth. They are the parents to Cheryl’s two energetic grandchildren, Felicity and Sebastian. Their daughter, Erin, lives near Tampa, FL. Cheryl admits her Shih Tzu, Riley, is more spoiled than all the kids combined. She claims Riley rules the roost and everyone knows it.
Cheryl loves spending time in the kitchen. Being of German descent, she tends to show her love to others with food and baked goods, which she says is fun, but not always so good for the waistline. Living at Richmond Lake, the Sivertsen family takes time to enjoy the outdoors and have found a love for traveling and camping.
